While in a perfect world drinks and food would not be enjoyed outside of the kitchen / dining room area, shoes would be removed at the door, and there would be a dirty paw fairy that cleaned our furry friends feet when they came in from the outdoors.  The reality is this world doesn’t exist and despite our best efforts.  Young children, house guests, or a wild football viewing party can all be culprits of upholstery stains in your home.  We’ve got a fool proof 4 step plan of how to spot clean upholstery.

How To Spot Clean Upholstery

1.  Blot.

When a spill occurs, it is extremely important that you begin the cleaning process by blotting the spill with a clean white cloth.  Make sure to never rub which can actually set in the stain.  Blotting will help to absorb as much of the spill as possible and will help to lessen the amount of damage.

2.  Treat.

Once you have blotted a majority the liquid spill has been absorbed, mix a solution of mild dish soap (make sure to never use to laundry or dishwasher soap) and water and apply to a clean cloth and then apply just enough to cover the spot to the upholstery.
