It’s all about the red, white and blue! Independence Day is just two days away, but the festivities are already starting! Want to get out and celebrate our country’s birthday? Here’s a schedule of parades and firework shows in our area.
4TH OF JULY PARADES
JULY 3
Highland Twilight Parade at 6:30pm
-The parade starts at St. James the Less Church (45th and Kennedy), continues north on Kennedy to Highway Avenue and east along Highway to the park.
Lake Station Parade at 5:00pm
-The parade route is from Columbus Park at 29th &Clay, proceed east on 29th to DeKalb Street, North on DeKalb to Central Avenue, Central Avenue to Pike Street, where the parade ends.
Merrillville Parade at 7:00pm
-The parade kicks off at Geisen Funeral Home north on Broadway to 67th and Broadway, and proceeds to Merrillville High School entrance.
JULY 4
Cedar Lake Summerfest Parade at 10:00am
-The parade starts at Hanover Central Jr/Sr High School (101120 W. 133rd Avenue) and goes through to Cedar Lake Town Grounds (7408 Constitution Avenue).
Crown Point Parade at 2:00pm
-The parade begins at Taft Jr. High School and travels North on Main St. to the Army Tank.
Gary Parade at 9:00am
-This parade route is approximately 1.5 miles in length. It will begin at 15th Avenue and Broadway, traveling north on Broadway to 6th Avenue.
Griffith Parade at 10:00am
-The parade will start at Ash St. and Broad St. and go south on Broad St. until Main St.
Hebron Parade at 10:00am
-The parade begins at Hebron High School and ends at Country Square Plaza.
Highland Kiddie Parade at 11:45am
Hobart Parade at 10:00am
-Line the streets from Mundell Field on Wisconsin Street to Third Street, Old Ridge Road and then back to Mundell Field!
Lake of the Four Seasons Parade at 12:00pm
-The parade kicks off at the LOFS Clubhouse Grounds where there will be Brats and Hot Dogs, Corn, Chips and soft drinks sold by Lions Club Members. Live Music under the Beer Garden provided for your listening pleasure.
LaPorte Parade at 10:00am
-The parade will travel down Lincolnway (Hwy 2) and will last approximately 2-3 hours. The Parade may be televised live on a local cable station and there will be live radio coverage from start to finish.
Munster Parade at 2:00pm
-This parade starts at the corner of Lions Club Drive and Calumet Avenue and proceeds north on Calumet to Ridge Road, then east to The Center for Visual and Performing Arts building.
Portage Parade at 11:00am
-The parade starts at Willowcreek Middle School and heads south down Willowcreek Road to Lute Road.
Porter/Duneland Parade at 9:00am
-This parade starts at Yost Elementary School and ends in Hawthorne Park.
Whiting Parade at 10:00am
-The parade route will begin at 116th Street and Indianapolis Blvd. to 119th Street. It will continue down 119th Street to Whiting’s Lakefront Park.
JULY 5
Michigan City Big Parade at 11:00am
-Michigan City Summer Festival Parade being held along Franklin Street from 10th St to Ames Field.
